Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

Jotkin is a gift coordination app built for families. We take privacy seriously — especially because some of the information in Jotkin (like birthdays) is personal. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we don't do with it.

What we collect

Your name
When you first open Jotkin, we pull your name from your iCloud account to set up your card. You can edit it at any time. Names are also entered voluntarily when claiming a gift item — we store whatever name you type.

Profile name and photo
Your profile name and photo start out as the name and photo on your own card. They are stored with Jotkin, outside your private iCloud storage, allowing the people you share cards with to see who you are. You can change them in the app at any time.

Birthday
You can optionally add a birthday to any card. We use this to power birthday reminders and know when to ask for updates on clothing sizes. Birthdays are stored securely in iCloud and are only visible to people you choose to share your card with.

Photos
You can add photos to cards and wishlist items. These are stored in iCloud and shared only with people who have access to the card.

A user identifier
We use a stable identifier that iCloud provides for your account. This is used to keep your cards and data consistent across your devices. It is never shared with advertisers or third parties.

Crash and performance data
We use a service called Sentry to help us find and fix issues with the app by collecting anonymous crash reports and performance data. Sentry is configured to strip personally identifiable information — we do not send your name, birthday, or any user-entered content to Sentry.

Usage analytics
We use a service called TelemetryDeck to collect anonymous usage analytics. It doesn't know who you are — no name, no account, no user-entered content. We use it only to understand which features get used, so we know what to improve.

Feedback board
If you submit an idea, vote, or comment on the in-app feedback board, it's visible to other Jotkin users and stored with your user identifier.

Email updates
If you sign up for Jotkin updates, on jotkin.app or andrewramos.com, we store your email address with Loops, our email provider, and use it only to send you news about Jotkin. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

Contact form
The contact form on jotkin.app is provided by Tally, a form service based in Belgium. When you open that page, Tally receives your IP address and basic browser details, as any website does. When you submit the form, Tally stores what you wrote, and any contact details you chose to include, so we can reply. We don't use it for anything else.

What we don't collect

How we use your data

Everything we collect is used to make Jotkin work better or give you updates. We use your data to:

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with data brokers. We never have and never will.

iCloud and CloudKit

Jotkin stores your data in Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. Apple's privacy policy governs how CloudKit handles your data. Your cards and wishlist items live in your iCloud account — Jotkin accesses them, but they belong to you.

Sharing

When you share a card, the people you share with can see the card's name, wishlist items, clothing sizes, and interests. They cannot see private notes you've written. The person whose card it is never sees who has claimed what — that's the point, no spoilers. Other viewers can see claimed items.

When you invite someone by phone number or email, that phone number or email is stored with the pending invitation until they accept or decline. Then it's deleted. The invitation also carries your name and the card's name, so the person knows who it's from.

To help you pick who to invite, Jotkin can read your contacts — on your device only, and only when you open the picker. Only the phone number or email you choose leaves your phone. Your contacts list is never uploaded.

Sharing is opt-in and controlled by you. You can revoke access at any time from within the app.

Your data, your control

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings screen in the app. Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Children

Jotkin is made for parents and the other grown-ups who shop for the people they love. If you're setting up cards for your children, you're in the right place — you manage those cards, and your kids don't need an account of their own.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and let you know what changed and why. Our commitment to not selling or sharing your data for advertising doesn't change — ever. Jotkin exists to help you take care of the people you love, not to monetize your information.
